World War Z

World War Z

World War Z is a brilliant film, the effects were top quality also I thought the film had a good story line. I would say it has two different genres; horror and action. Horror because it just falls into the typical horror film, there are zombies, some jump scares, a lot of gore, the music starts or gets intense when something jumpy is about to happen. Action because there is a lot of violence, guns and war.

This film fits into the production context of hollywood, The Reason for this is because the budget for World War Z was $190,000,000 thats about average for a hollywood production, also there wasn't just one location, they travelled around the world from places like England, Scotland and Wales to Malta, Hungary and United States. The final reason is the actors, Marc Forster chose a wide range of big stars for this movie a lot of them American but also some from Italy, Scotland and Israel.

When watching World War Z I listed 6 stars; Brad Pitt; award winning actor and producer, known world wide,  Peter Capaldi, a Scottish actor and film director. He has played numerous roles in film and television, but is best known for his role as Malcolm Tucker, a spin doctor in the BBC comedy series,  Pierfrancesco Favino, an Italian actor best know for Rush, Night At The Musium, Angles and Deamons and World War Z, David Morse, an American actor, singer, director, and writer. He first came to national attention as Dr. Jack Morrison in the medical drama series St. Elsewhere from 1982 to 1988, Fana Mokoena  is a South African actor. He is best known for his portrayal of Rwandan general Augustin Bizimungu in the 2004 film Hotel Rwanda. I think that these stars was chosen because they are all quite well known around the globe so the film would get a lot of recognition everywhere its viewed.

The CGI effects were another big give away to show the production context, only a hollywood film could have top quality CGI like this film, one scene that stuck out to me is the scene when the Zombies take over Jerusalem, a lot of that scene is made from effect.

Rise Of The Zombie

Rise Of The Zombie

The genre for rise of the zombie is horror becuase there are zombies, the main location is set in the middle of some creepy old woods and there is a bit of goor. i also think that there is some romance as well mostly because a lot of the film relates back to his girlfriend.

This film fits into the production context Bollywood i can this this because of the music, its all indian traditional music which is usualy played with Bollywood films, its low budget and there are bollywood actors.

I could only count one star in this film, Luke Kenny, he was not only the star but he was also the director, half Irish half Italian, he has made 3 films, Bombay Boys, Rock On!! and Rise Of The Zombie which is his latest film, it was relesed in 2013.

Some more examples to show the production context are; the narrative kept switching from horror to romance, there was no bad language, there wasnt a lot of action just the ecasional nibble on a hand or foot but we saw someones heart getting ripped out of his body but it was in the wrong place. There was no CGI effects, only make-up was used.

Scream Opening Scene

Scream Opening Scene

The title screen of the film basically says everything you need to know about the movie, starts off as white normal writing, a phone rings then a woman screams, the writing turns red to symbolize blood, its effective, interesting and says its a gory horror. At the start of the 1st scene behind the girl there is a book shelf full of red books, the symbolical effect of this is blood, death and evil. The main character Cindy is a typical horror girl, a young blond bimbo who is flirty and vulnerable. She walks all over the house when she is on the phone to the killer to show that she is alone in a big house. A bunch of knifes are placed on the table in the kitchen, this stands out a lot, it is one of the first things you see in the shot and as she talks about horrors with the killer she picks up a knife and plays with it, she says her favorite horror is Halloween, Michael Myers is the main character in Halloween and his weapon of choice is a knife and Halloween is a slasher horror so it indicates that scream is a slasher horror too. The killer says to Cindy "I wanna know who i'm looking at" Cindy then becomes freaked out and creepy music starts to play and a dog barks which could mean there is someone outside.
